Joel works with several programs related to the college. Along with President Crouch, he consults on a major project to preserve the name and spirit of Bishop College, an African-American college of Dallas which closed in 1988. With President Crouch, Joel has helped to lead a national movement to support the construction of the Bishop Center for African-American Preaching at Georgetown, a dream about to come true in the immediate future.
In addition, Joel consults with the college to conduct Proclaimers Place, a four-day intensive seminar in exegesis, hermeneutics and homiletics. In the last two years more than 100 proclaimers have attended Proclaimers Place at Georgetown, Fort Worth, Oxford University and elsewhere.
