Joel serves as Professor of Preaching at the George W. Truett Seminary of Baylor University. He has served on the elected faculty since August 2005. Before that time, he served as an adjunct instructor.
Truett Seminary Truett is recognized as one of the fastest growing seminaries in America. Baylor University founded the seminary on May 21, 1993. Since that time Truett has grown to 402 students in the fall 2007. The seminary has 18 faculty with additional adjunct instructors. The seminary convenes on its own beautiful campus located on the larger Baylor campus at the corner of Interstate 35 and South 5th in Waco, Texas. Truett is a Christ-centered seminary in the historic Baptist tradition. The distinguished New Testament scholar, Dr. David E. Garland, serves as dean of the seminary. In addition, Truett recently inaugurated the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching with a full agenda of programs for the enrichment of preaching. This is directed by Dr. W. Hulitt Gloer. Joel would be delighted to speak with any students interested in attending Truett. He will personally welcome them to Truett and be their friend throughout their training.
