Come Home Again

Price:

$14.95

At the end of Thomas Wolfe’s novel You Can’t Go Home Again, the protagonist, George Webber, realizes, “You can’t go back home to your family, back home to your childhood,… back home to a young man’s dreams of glory and of fame… back home to places in the country, back home to the old forms and systems of things which once seemed everlasting but which are changing all the time—back home to the escapes of Time and Memory.” The idea that it is impossible to return home and to the past is commonplace today and a hallmark of modern consciousness, historian Susan Matt observed. Homelessness is a metaphor for the spiritual condition of our time. Rootless and without any anchor or foundation, so many feel far away from any spiritual home.

Yet Jesus’ story about a runaway son and a waiting Father assures you that you can come home again to God—your ultimate home. You are never at home until you are at home with Him, at peace with Him, and thus comfortable with yourself…at home. The Gospel assures you that you can come home. The choice is yours.

In these messages, Joel communicates what it means to leave home and go away from God. Sometimes when your situation seems impossible, you leave home. At other times you stop trusting the Lord, who wants you at home with Him. The best news is that at any moment you can come home to God. You can come back now. You can leave the homelessness of fear and find a home in faith.

When you find your way home to God, He makes provision for you to stay home with Him. He is your friend in times of temptation and your inner resource at the wellsprings of life. When you come home, you can stay home.

Using his biblical insight and personal experience, Joel explains how you can come home to God now—not later. In a warm and personal style, he assures you with confidential tones but convicting words that you can come home and stay home with God.
