Joel is beginning his tenth year as Professor of Preacning at George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University. He was elected to the faculty in 2005. He teaches both Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry classes.
Truett is named for the world famous pastor Dr. George W. Truett, a Baylor graduate who served First Baptist, Dallas as pastor 1897-1944. He also served as President of the Baptist World Alliance and Chair of the Board of Trustees at Baylor, as well as founding Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
Truett Seminary accepted its first class May 21, 1993 and has just celebrated its 20th year. It has been one of the fasting growing seminaries in America, including an endowment five times that of the average seminary in the United States. Twenty professors comprise the Truett faculty along with occasional adjuncts. The seminary convenes on its own beautiful “campus on a campus” on the Baylor University campus, Waco, Texas, near the corner of I-35 and University Parks Boulevard, just across the Brazos River from the new McLane Stadium. Truett is a conservative, Christ-centered, biblically based seminary in the historic Baptist tradition aligned with the BGCT but welcoming all Baptists and other denominations. Dr. Dennis Tucker serves as Interim Dean.
Truett also houses the Kyle Lake Center for Effective Preaching directed by Dr. Hulitt Gloer, with an annual round of conferences and activities.
Joel will be pleased to speak with anyone concerning the opportunities for training at Truett. Please visit HERE.
